Hidden Costs Of Unemployment Effects Unsuspecting Citizens

As everyone is aware, the nation is experiencing an economic decline. Accordingly, the unemployment rate continues to rise. Many states have begun issuing unemployment benefits through the use of debit cards.

Proponents of this approach argue that this system benefits unemployed workers who don't have a bank account and often pay excessive fees to cash their checks with check cashing services. However, many citizens have encountered a variety of services charges associated with the debit cards, which is leading to increased criticism of this approach, particularly given that these states do not offer an option of how to receive the unemployment benefits. Critics of the system also point out that the banks issuing the debit cards are generating revenue from the service charges from the unemployment benefits.

It appears there are arguments for and against the new approach to providing unemployment benefits. However, the loss of any additional benefits for an unemployed worker could obviously prove quite costly and frustrating.
